Tomatosphere

Learn about survival in space and on Mars by participating in Tomatosphere. A scripted scenario will challenge students to develop an understanding of germination and the living environment on Mars. If colonization is probable, we need to be prepared!

Registered classrooms will receive two groups of tomato seeds that they will grow and observe. The seeds are part of a research project to find out how the Martian environment affects tomato seeds. One group of seeds will have been exposed to a simulated problem either traveling to Mars or on Mars. The other group of seeds will be the control. This will be a blind study, therefore your students will not know which group is which until after your results have been turned in.
