Advanced Manufacturing /Precision MachiningCourse Description:
Over the course of two years, the student will learn and apply the skills needed to succeed in the advanced manufacturing industry or to continue their education on the post-secondary level. Students will learn using state of the art advanced manufacturing machine tools, including Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) lathes, CNC vertical mills, and CNC programming simulators. The very tools used by our students are found in manufacturing companies across the nation, and the skills learned are in high demand. Topics Covered: Offered At:

To prepare students to enter the field of advanced manufacturing or to attend a post secondary institution for further studies in this career path. Projects and Experiences:
Major projects– parallel clamps (manual lathe and manual mill), vee-blocks (manual or CNC mill and manual or CNC lathe). Student designed projects for both manual and CNC machines. Local business driven projects. Major experiences– 1st Year: Mentoring experience with local business owners. Shadowing experience with local business tradespersons. 2nd Year: Mentoring experience with local business owners. Internship with local businesses. Students are required to create a professional portfolio showcasing their knowledge and experiences.
Assessments:
Multiple formative and summative assessments based upon project performance work, core academics, and soft skills. National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) Exam in Precision Machining Portfolio
