The Practical Nursing program offers the opportunity for adult students to practice patient-centered nursing care for all age groups. Nursing theory and patient care lab skills taught in the classroom are combined with a supervised clinical experience to develop a knowledgeable competent nurse. This part-time 2-year program is registered by the New York State Education Department for 1,300 hours of combined academic and clinical instruction. Pre-entrance examinations are given throughout the year. Admission requirements: High school diploma or equivalency diploma, pre-entrance test, Pre-admission interview with the Nursing Coordinator, physical examination showing the student to be in good health and required immunizations. The classes are offered at 3 locations; Belmont, Ellicottville and Olean. Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES has high standard with a proven track record of a 100% pass rate on the NYS licensing exam.
